It was Martin's dream of freedom

A dream of a people who one day would overcome
A dream made real today on Capitol Hill
Where millions witnessed this dream fulfilled.

So many struggles, so much pain
Through slavery, abuse and shame
But we stand together today and claim
A future full of hope and change.

No more judging by the color of skin
From now on it will be the character within
White, Latino, Black or native American
Will live out the slogan: "Yes, we can".

The young, the old, the big, the small
A sea of humanity covered the mall
To hear Obama speak so firm, so noble
Taking an office that once seemed impossible.

God bless America as history is made today
To God be the Glory and may this country find a way
To "remain faithful to the ideal of our forefathers"
And seek God for the Grace to love one another.
